Most offices have gone to business casual, which to some people, means jeans and t-shirts. My HR dept had to send out an email reminding people that this is not appropriate attire. On Fridays we have jeans days, so some people wear sweats.

I've yet to see lawyers or business men running around with jeans or sweat pants on. I've never seen a secretary dressed like that either. The business you must be talking about, are ones that don't have interations with the public. No serious proffessional would wear jogging pants and a t-shirt to work, and then think people are going to take them to be serious.

"Jeans" isn't synonomous with "underdressed" in many situations, though. Somebody wearing a rumpled golf shirt and pleated dockers (business casual in many places) isn't dressed better than someone in nice dark-wash jeans with a dress shirt and blazer.

These are not boutiques, and are really all the same company. By your metric Lynchburg, Virginia is a hotbed of fashion because J Crew is headquartered there.

Okay, thank you! I am glad someone touched on this because I didn't wanna be rude but, really? Columbus? The Limited owns all those brands listed and Abercrombie owns Ruehl...so that makes like, in reality, 2 fashion headquarters, not 10. Columbus may have us beat a little with HQ but we do have American Eagle, so we're not completely out of it. Pittsburgh, like Columbus, also has a Saks & a Nordstrom and Pittsburgh also has little boutiques (see: Chick Downtown). If you want to get "chain" on it...Pittsburgh also beats Columbus with Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Michael Kors, and Kate Spade stores, to name a few.

My husband works in Pittsburgh and wears a suit and tie everyday. He would prefer to wear his PJ's though.

First of all, a quick survival lesson - never go into a place & call someone from the area a PITTSBURGHIAN....( especially if you see a bunch of bikes parked outside ) If you happen to be in the wrong bar, they might take offense & smack you upside your fool head - Or, if you're lucky, they may think you're tryin' to describe a new Primanti Sammich.....Open a BOOTEEK ??? You'd probably do a whole lot better with a resale shop ( not clothes - maybe car, truck & Harley parts ) ... There aren't too many red carpet gala's goin' on in the Burgh ...As far as HIGH fashion, that could be wearin' a cheap pair Kmart jeans & a sweaty tee shirt while smokin' some primo weed - or it could just be anything black & gold with a shiny Lombardi Trophy pinned on to accessorize it......Really, A booteek ??? .....As an example, there are several BOOTEEKS, in the Galleria ( which happens to be in one of the more affluent areas of the county ) and most days you could toss a few grenades in the place without hurting anyone....I don't know how these places stay in business....really, that is what I honestly think...

Well not even close! He just likes to be comfortable.
Zero casual days, aways a suit and tie.
