What salary can you live "comfortably" on in the Burgh?
Just wondering what one needs to make to live comfortably in Pittsburgh? I went on salary calculator and the numbers came out relatively low.
So Im here wanting to know from people who actually live in the Burgh. Here is the criteria....no mortgage, 2 NEW cars(nothing fancy), go to dinner maybe twice a week or a game here and there. Just an average spender. Nothing crazy or overboard.
What can one live on and be comfortable?
Thanks!

Are you serious? Wow. Looks like the moving calculator was correct. I cannot wait for this move and get out of the rat race of NY. Ive found several jobs in the 60+ range. Just hope its as good as it appears.

One more thing.....What would you say the average payments are on a 2800 sq. ft house in a town comparable to Mt. Lebo for the following items....
Taxes? Monthly utilities? Water/Sewer? Home owners insurance?
Thanks again, you guys have been great!

All depends on how large your mortgage is.

Mt. Lebanon has a good school district = higher property taxes
Check out some homes on Real Estate in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Harrisburg, Akron, Canton, Erie, Youngstown, West Virginia, New York - Howard Hanna Real Estate
Choose Pittsburgh, Mt. Lebanon, and put in your price range...you'll be able to check out some of the tax info on each house and what not.

Yep - I know plenty of people in Pittsburgh that live quite well on 40K a year...Ofcourse I talking about living the single life...Not raising a family income.

Oh 60k yr is more then enough - you can live downtown, strip, shadyside, sq hill, etc for 60k a yr in Pittsburgh....Hell a one bedroom would only run 800$ for very decent to $1250 in a posh downtown apartment.
Bad part is a 105k salary in NYC is only about 50-60k in Pittsburgh. LOL!
Pittsburgh is very inexpensive, I wonder how long it will stay this way.

My mistake. The millage rate in Mt. Lebo is about .030 times your house assesment. A home assesed at 200K would cost you 6000/year. Add utilities on a 2800 sf house, figure another 5-6 hundred per month.
