But, as I posted the other day, when I told someone I was a Lutheran, they replied "What's that?" I guess all the Germans must be Catholic. And, there are very few Scandinavians. They all went to the midwest!

When I was growing up practically EVERYONE was Catholic. It seemed to me where I lived if they weren't Catholic, they were Methodist like us.

But that's no reason to not know about Lutherans. When we went to Grampa's we went to the Lutheran Church because they had the accomodations for the hard of hearing, like Grampa. I didn't notice much of a difference between Lutheran and Methodist (keep in mind I was really small!)

Beaver Falls in my day was extremely heavily Catholic. Most of the Protestants there were Presbyterians. I guess not everyone had met a Lutheran. I agree the Lutherans and Methodists are very similar.

Um...Are there any Blacks, Muslims, Japanese, Chinese, Phillipino, Indian, (from India)Greek, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South American, or other ethnic groups in Pittsburgh? I'm Catholic, so it's great that I wouldn't have to look too far to attend mass.

How about the Greek Food Festival in Oakland? We have one of the largest Greek populations in the country.

Chicago did not have 800 murders last year. It was 508 according to CPD. It has a lower murder rate than Pgh.

The Squirrel Hill area is best for having such a wide variety of stores to walk to. It has a lot of unique stores and ethnic restaurants. Shadyside has more upscale and chain stores (Pottery Barn, Gap, Apple, etc), but also has a grocery store and Trader Joes at it's edge. Both have excellent bus service to Oakland (university district) and downtown. To get to other areas of the city, one must change buses downtown.

Actually, if you looked beyond skin tone, you'd realize that those are all DIVERSE CULTURES. Even if they are (gasp) European.

Racism works both ways.
