Belle Vernon, Rostraver, Speers, Charleroi, and maybe even California is where I'd like to locate. Any help is appreciated.

Rule out California unless you really need to be there. Not that it's bad at all, far from it compared to other parts of the valley. But you'll be facing stiff competition from students who pretty much have town rentals tied up thru 2010 at a minimum. Zoning changes also prohibit any new rentals for most of the town so we don't expect anything opening soon.
The other areas should have something for you, Charleroi especially but perhaps that isn't the best of choices.
I'll ask these questions....
What do you need? House, apartment? Budget or something more expensive? What kind of pet? Month to month or lease? Town? Country?

I'm a pharmacist, she's a pharmacist, I work in Uniontown, she's going to probably get on at either Jefferson, Mon Valley, or Washington Hospitals until we get our student loans paid off. We need something in the middle of these areas, thus lower Mon Valley fits the bill. Something to last us maybe 3-4 years. Either house or apartment, lease or month to month, either town or country, money isn't too important (anything under $1500 preferably), and I'm talking two cats...it's just that the info on the internet is very scarce. I picked up some apartment guides at the Tri-County shopping center Giant Eagle and they all highlighted areas too far North for me.
The only real solution I've found so far is buying a mobile home. I'd rather not do that and just rent.

Heck, for that kind of money you could buy some of the nicest houses in the valley area. But that isn't for everyone.
Back to the task at hand. If Jefferson is the stop that leaves you with the Rt 51 corridor. You could comfortably search between outer Rostraver all the way to the Perryopolis area. Mon Valley might open up anything from North Charleroi over to Centerville, maybe Brownsville. Washington you could search from Centerville all the way to Beallsville.
I'll do some checking but in the meantime, get one of those local shopper guides, bargain hunter kind of things. Usually cost about a buck and a quarter and found at the usual kwikkie-mart places. You'll sometimes find more localized listings in there.

The mon valley
Its the land where time forgot. A forgotten booming community that the unions destroyed. Donora, cement city, a little community the steel mill buildt for their workers. A great idea destroyed by greedy overpowering people taking advantage of normal human beings, just trying to make a living. A place of broken promises, crushed souls, loss, and most of all took away diginity of those who worked so hard. They sold their lives for the steel industry to go overseas. Out bidded theirselves. It's a land of mofia, crime, welfare and most of all bitterness. It's streets, sex, violence and survival. I have lost many of friends in that black hole. The streets were rough 27 years ago, imagine today! I pray that would all turn around one day and I have waited for 27 years. I have no answers except the industries must stop going out of the country and take care of their own.
