Default Apartments in Bloomfield

I have lived in Pittsburgh for 5 years and I have lived in several different apartments with different management companies. I have a sense of which companies to avoid such as lobos and the zytnicks. The problem is that I would like to move to Bloomfield but there are very few listings for apartments in that area. I have driven around the neighborhood and have noticed many, many apartments however I have no clue who owns or manages these buildings. Any information would be greatly appreciated !

Driving/walking the neighborhood's and writing numbers down is a good way to search, and have you checked craigslist? There are a lot of apartments who aren't managed by large rental companies at all, but are owned as investment properties by regular people. I've always liked them better than the big companies.

Bloomfield is a pretty close-knit community. If you go into some of the locally owned businesses, pizza shops and restaurants, and ask if they know anyone with an apartment to rent, you may get some leads that you wouldn't otherwise find.

What we found out about Bloomfield is that a lot of the rentals are private renters. Someone mentioned Craigs List and thats where I found all the apartments we looked at in Bloomfield.

I would check with all of the private renters and just look for signs that they are good landlords,

are the sidewalks in front of the building shoveled in the winter? Is the grass (if there is any) cut in the summer? Are there cracks in the paint, public hallways kept up, kept clean? Try to talk to someone else in the building, see what they say about the landlord.

Thanks for the help everyone ! I have been browsing Craig's List, but have found a few postings from Bloomfield. I don't have to move until August so I'm kind of ahead of the ball. I just thought that maybe i was missing something since there seemed to be a lot of apartments but not a lot of numbers on them or postings on the internet. I was mainly trying to see if someone on here had some inside information

Check the local laundromat, or just walk the neighborhood. When I owned a rental property in Dormont, I never advertised in the paper. Just a sign in the window and maybe a posting at the local suds and duds.

Actually, if you mean the section of Baum from North Neville up to Morewood, it technically IS Bloomfield, even though most people would think it was north Oakland. Here are the Bloomfield neighborhood boundaries:

Yeah that section is bloomfield i work at the design center on baum/morewood but landlords on craigslist have a habit of extending bloomfields borders
