Reddesertfox obviously hasn't been in Pittsburgh recently -it's been day after day of endless sunshine since July.

Which has been awesome, it's been a great year for weather here.

But let's be honest, statically our weather is pretty horrid on average.

From November through March, maybe. From April through October, no.

While you're somewhat correct, nearly half of the days here April through October are cloudy:

Even though this year has been really good, our history of 203 days of cloudiness annually is insane.

I have to wonder if many of those days are actually just partly cloudy.
I know I've logged onto Weatherbug and it reports cloudy at the airport, while I have full sunshine in Bellevue 10 miles away.
Who knows?

I was talking about the average temperature including the average high and low. Which is what is considered for climate, not just the high.

To go with what you said, on Sun the weather channel kept saying it was partly cloud when it was really mainly cloud with very little sunshine.

Cloudy days can have some sun, and partly cloudy days can have anything from a majority clouds to a majority sun.

I actually think a better measure to look at for these purposes is percent possible sunshine. Pittsburgh is over 50% from mid-May to mid-October, and under 40% from mid-November to the end of February.

Here we go again! The NWS calls for no rain in the 7 day forecast and I cannot stand to see that! We just had a nice rainy two day break from all this relentless sunshine soup and dry weather . However back to same old dry " ridge of high pressure " pattern . Will it ever break? I live in Columbus Ohio but being only three hours away from Pittsburgh the forecasts of the two cities are not much different. Sunny weather is okay for short periods but long stretches of dry sunny weather absolutely drive me up the wall. I also suffer migraine headaches due to this kind of weather.

LIke most of the northern and northeastern climates, Pittsburgh suffers from that age old latitude and calendar problem. This summer has been sunny and dry almost every day. Yes, we just had two rainy days in a row, but guess what? Rain is good. Any statements concerning Pittsburgh weather being so supposedly lousy need to be narrowed down to the winter months, and even then, we may have our share of gloom, but not quite as much snow and not quite as frigid as other places.
