If I'm heading to the after-hour club in Homewood, I usually eat there.

If I want to head home, but get a quick bite to eat somewhere first, before heading home, I usually go to Primanti Bro's in the Strip District (which is usually PACKED LIKE SARDINES after the clubs let out at 2) or I'll head to Originals ("The O"), in Oakland.

The Primanti's in Oakland is open LATE. I know they're open after 2, because I've eaten there before, after 2, but I don't know exactly what time they close. They won't sell beer, after 2, though, that I do know...cause I wanted one and I was mad I couldn't get one..lolllll

If you're drinking in Pittsburgh and anywhere near Oakland or Bloomfield you should live by Ritter's and the O. Of course if anything else was open 24/7 Ritter's probably wouldn't get as much business because their food sucks, but hey, you're drunk, who cares.

I agree. I used to eat there a lot when I lived in Shadyside and was plastered. Just basic food. Nothing special at all. There used to be a good diner back in the late 80s or maybe into the early 1990s called Smallman Street Diner. It was in the building where Banana Joe's and Bar Pittsburgh were in the late 1990s. They had huge Ruebens and just great quality of food for those who were partying at Metropol in the early days of clubbing in the Strip. Of course, that does not do anybody any good today. Just going down memory lane.

Go to the O, Primanti's, and Ritters when you're sober. Not quite the same.

O fries are still delicious sober, the difference is that you feel somewhat appalled at shoving all that grease into your mouth.

Ritter's is trashy diner food, I don't know why anyone would eat there sober. I don't think I've ever been there during the day.

Primanti's is okay but I wouldn't specifically go there.

The smallman Street Diner is still around. They are in the strip and there is one in S. Hill. They got awesome rubins/rachels,burgers, sandwiches, etc. I go there for Breakfast on the weekends a lot. It is a good place to read the paper and eat some eggs & potatoes with coffee on a Saturday morning.
