What do you know about Ambridge? (Pittsburgh: where to stay, sale, best school)

In your first post you said you were looking for some land. Take 65 North to the Freedom exit. Head up the hill to New Sewickley Township. It sits between Freedom, Cranberry, Rochester, Economy, and Zelienople. They have all of the land you could possibly want. They are part of the Freedom school district.
Part of Economy Boro goes to Ambridge. I would never even consider sending my kids to Ambridge.

When I lived in New Sewickley, it was a 16 mile drive to the airport. I had to go through Ambridge, which was about 6 miles into the trip.

South Range Family, thanks for all that. I have been looking in the Economy area. I also find it interesting you said you wouldnt send your children to Ambridge. Please tell me why. Is it dangerous?

A buddy of mine sent six kids to Ambridge, and regretted it the whole time. I have never heard anything good about Ambridge schools. Some have said it is one step behind Aliquippa, which is certainly the worst school in Beaver County.

Thanks for the information, South Range. It is Beaver county I am trying to keep in, from what everyone says. It is Economy that seems to be the place with a bit more land. So if hub does transfer, he will work in Ambridge, but I will try to find us a home in Economy. What do you think about Economy?

Economy itself is a nice area. It's on top of the hill from Conway my buddy lives off of Conway-Walrose road in the Sunset Hills plan. They are all smaller split entry houses with small yards. His kids go to Ambridge.

I did a little research here Schooldigger.com -- Search and compare elementary, middle, and high schools., and I see that Ambridge ranks higher than Freedom. That is surprising to me. I know that Freedom is a safer school district. I will say that I wasn't real impressed with Freedom either. That is why I moved my kids to Ohio schools. That, and being tired of living on the side of a hill.

We lived in New Sewickley on top of the hill from Freedom. It was a very safe area. I never locked my doors, and always left the keys in the car. All of the neighbors were like family that watched out for each other. We are still friends with all of them. We moved 10 years ago, and nothing much has changed there.

Okkkkayyyyyy now I will see if we can afford New Sewickley. That is still close to Ambridge, right? Hey now, Ohio schools are the best! That's where I graduated from, in another lifetime ago.
My folks are still in Ohio so the closer to the Ohio side I get, the happier I'll be.

New Sewickley is right next to Economy. They share a Freedom address. The zip is 15042. Prices should be pretty much the same.

I'm off to check out New Sewickley. I hope that Google Street Map works there. That thing is amazing in trying to find a certain spot.
