This is too funny. I can't wait to tell my good buddy that is a mechanic someone said to tip them. ha ha ha. I can't wait to see the look on his face. Thanks for this humor of the day!

As long as this topic is here at the top, here's something that people may not be aware of--trucks over 9000# GVWR don't need emissions tests. Of course that includes medium and heavy duty trucks, but it also exempts some of the heavier pickups; some 350 or 3500 models can have GVWRs over 9000. I know some truck owners that paid for emissions tests year after year on such trucks, when they weren't required. I even did it myself for a few years on one of my own trucks before I found out...

If I buy a car with a valid Pa state inspection but it came from a county that did not require emissions testing, do I have to get emission sticker or wait until the state inspection is due

Note: This is not legal advice

Typically an inspection station will tell you to just wait until the next inspection is due. Legally you may be required to get an emissions test, meaning you can be cited if you're pulled over and someone wants to give you an extremely hard time. Chances are this is very very unlikely. Emissions testing isn't required for registration or titling, so you're clear there.

If you really want to get a test, I'm fairly sure you can, and the expiration would be the same as the sticker on your car for inspection. Practically, you should just wait until your next inspection is due to deal with it.

You need an emissions test once it's registered in a county with emissions. I learned this the hard way, getting pulled over shortly after moving from a county that didn't to a county that did, and not having bothered yet.
