Default what's there to do or see in Beaver Falls? (besides donuts)

I just heard about Oram's Donuts during one of my WQED documentary binges, and am now fairly obsessed with the idea of heading up there sometime to check the place out. I was wondering, is there anything else to do up in Beaver Falls while there? I don't expect there to be some bustling downtown in a Rust Belt town with the kind of population crash they've seen, but if there are even just some neat buildings to go look at, a particularly nice spot to watch the river go by, some monuments to see, or just a nice park for a picnic I'd love to know.

Bradys Run Park.

I used to catch the train to Pittsburgh there when I was 4. I don't remember very much.

Brady's Run Park is a great place to have a picnic, though not technically in Beaver Falls. It is in Patterson Twp, and I think a few other townships as well. If you're doing donut research, check out DeAngelis in Chippewa Twp (w. of Beaver Falls). The original shop was in BF, but they closed it down. Best donuts in the west (western PA anyway)!

Buildings: Carnegie Library is "historic" (old). Geneva College might have something going on. The Merrick Art Gallery is in New Brighton, across the Beaver River. It is free.

Might try the "Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe" while in the area along with the pie pan sized Oram's cinnamon rolls. My dads office used to be right above Oram's, and I always enjoy seeing it named! The very lower end of BF heading toward New Brighton is the area Joe Namath lived as a kid.

Brady's Run will be having its Maple Syrup Festival soon, and it's an interesting, tasty event that has gotten huge since the first one I attended about 30 years ago. Good fishing at the parks reservoir for trout in about a month, and the ice skating rink was always a good time.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

That's all great information, thanks! In addition, here are a couple cool sounding things in the area I've found in additional research...

Beaver Falls Coffee + Tea

Stop and Sock Mini-golf, Batting, Driving Range

Frontier Falls Mini-Golf

...looks like we can have some tasty coffee with our donuts, and then go mini-golfing!

This is an easy one. Get the Oram's cinnamon rolls, and then leave Beaver Falls. That's not a place you want to hang out.

Brady's Run is a few miles away on 51, and the mini golf in Rochester is also a few miles away on 65. You could also check out Jerry's Curb Service in Bridgewater for some great grease burgers. They are the best. Jerry's is also on 51, close to Brady's Run.

We treat ourselves to Oram's on special occasions at work. They are without a doubt the best doughnut that I have ever eaten. Once, when I was younger, I thought that I was really hungry. I managed to eat two Oram's. I think that I almost went into a sugar coma. Eating one is possible. Most of the guys only eat a half. Never eat two.

Jerry's Curb Service

Sounds awesome! We love old school greasy burger drive-ups, so that would definitely be a must-do on the itinerary. Thanks.

Brady's Run Maple Syrup Festival

Thanks! These sound like fun as well, man, I wish the Maple Festival wasn't the same weekend as Tekkoshocon. Maybe I can catch it next year though.

If you like tools, you could also check out Hamilton tools in Beaver Falls. It's an old 4 story building that is packed with some great junk. They have any kind of old tool that you could possibly need.

Blank

Here is a word of warning. If you look at them on google maps, the marker is in the wrong place. They are on the main drag through town it is 7th avenue. It is also route 18. The google marker will put you on another 7th avenue near Patterson in a residential area. Move to the right, and look for route 18.

If you were driving into town on 18 from the South, you would cross the Beaver River, go past Rini's military surplus store, and Beaver Falls Harley Davidson. The tool store is a tall building on your left.

Hands down -- Jerry's fried mushrooms.

Hubby's from Beaver -- we are very familiar with the Stop and Sock. Had a lot of fun there.

The Beaver Cemetery right on the main street is beautiful to walk through. Brady's Run park is cool. And if you go up Gypsy Glen Rd in Beaver, along the side of the road the creek you'll find some cool small waterfalls.... not large, not dangerous but sure loud as heck!
