What is in Apollo?
Hey my boyfriend is looking to flip some houses and he found one on the river in apollo,pa for only 15,000! But I was wondering, is there a catch...what is apollo all about. Is it a safe neighborhood, good school system, worth the commute?
thanks

Is there a catch? lol. The catch is that it's a $15K house.
Have you ever seen that "Flip this House" show on A&E? The guy buys broken down houses which have been foreclosed on, abandoned, etc. in betterish neighborhoods, pours tens of thousands of dollars into the house and then sells it for a price which is comparable to other houses in the neighborhood for a profit. He can do this because 1) he knows what he's doing, and 2) He has a team of people assisting him (not to mention the connections he has with general contractors, etc.).
You won't just find a house browsing an MLS listing that you can buy and then sell it six weeks later for profit.
I hope your boyfriend knows what he's doing.

I'm not sure anyone is gonna be beating down the door to buy a home in Apollo or Armstrong County.
Like RedBall said, it's kinda a risky thing to do...but if you're going to do it, I'd at least stick to desirable areas of the city or suburbs.

i've been to apollo several times. Seems to be a poor area. I would not think it would have much crime and seems to be pretty safe. I just got a depressed vibe from going through the town

Apollo, is deep country western pa...
That means poor, uneducated, probably a meth problem, I'm sure there are decaying abandoned steel mills, etc...

Apollo is not deep country western pa. My cousins live there, and when I visit PA this is where I go. It is your average Western PA town. There are no abandoned steel mills, and it is not full of poor people. A lot of newer upper middle class suburban developments are out there. My cousins went to Kiski highschool which is a good school. You seem like you know nothing of which you speak. Why describe a town when you never been there? I am sure my cousins would be happy to read your ignorant post.

There's an area in or near Murrysville known as Apollo. There's also an Apollo in Armstrong County.
