Moving to Pittsburgh!
I'm a 24 single female that is moving to Pittsburgh for my first job/residency out of pharmacy school. I accepted a job at Mercy Hospital. The question is.... where should I live? I'm looking for a one bedroom one bath apartment that is reasonable in price and in a safe area. I'd like to have an easy commute to work each day as well and be close to malls/night life/shopping/etc. Can someone please help me out?

What constitutes "reasonable"? A dollar figure would help.

Also, malls and nightlife aren't close to one another in Pittsburgh.
Do you want to live in the city or the suburbs?

If you're not scared of urban environments like everyone else on this forum... try the South Side... you're 24... you'll have fun there... lively atmosphere with tons of restaurants, nightlife, shops, etc.... and you can walk across the 10th st. bridge to work... no point in putting up with traffic to live in a sterile environment like the North Hills

Some fun things to do on the Southside for a young woman--and lively at night. Great cafes and a couple of good bookstores.
Housing varies in price, but without knowing your idea of budget, can't advise on whether it is reasonable or not.

A price range would definitely help. Sq. Hill and Shadyside are mighty nice but definitely not inexpensive. Although as a soon-to-be pharmD I know you can afford it.
Are you looking to rent for a bit? I used to live in a very modern and wonderful complex called SouthSide Works. There are the Heinz Lofts, too. A few awesome flats in the Strip. I have lived in a condo downtown in Pittsburgh for five years and could have a plethora of great places for you!
Don't forget Fox Chapel! OOh LA LA!
I just re-read your post and missed you wanting to rent last time. Try Southside Works or Heinz Lofts FOR SURE. Lots of young professionals and couples there, in a very trendy area.
PS. MERCY HOSPITAL? I go to school at Duquesne! I will be your neighbor! LITERALLY!
