Yes, Perry Hilltop is south of Marshall Rd. Some side streets in Perry Hilltop are nice too, but Perrysville Ave itself through there is not nice. Then it turns into Federal St on the North side and gets worse.

Yeah that was an odd drive down the hill. It went from fairly nice (Observatory Hill) to run-down (Perry Hilltop) to a big curve with amazing views tucked between the overgrown trees to a block of urban prairies at the bottom of the hill to a block of "yikes maybe I shouldn't have come this way" on Federal St. to nice again... Quite an interesting alternate route to downtown

Close proximity to downtown, easy to get to shopping in the North Hills. Interestingly, some of the people I met who have moved there came from other cities and were amazed at the neighborhood. If you move here from NY, Baltimore, Chicago or someplace like that, Observatory Hill is an oasis compared to where they came from.
I lived in Friendship from 1987-1991, when it was supposedly a 'bad' area, right between Garfield and E Liberty. I'm intrigued by a house in Observatory Hill. Would Friendship then be comparable to Observatory Hill now?

I've been here over two years (actually part of that was in Perry South) and I've had no problems. Now I'm in Observatory Hill proper (I can almost see Mr. Bill's from my front porch, and I can see the actual observatory from my house) and it's usually pretty quiet. Needs more businesses, though.

I see the scared mice are up to their usual B.S. on this forum.

Edit- I just realized how old this thread is. Anyways, I doubt it's gotten much better/worse since 2007. There are neighborhoods in the city I'd rather live in, but I love my house, would never be able to afford my view anywhere else, and it's so easy to get to work from here (North Shore). Yep, you could do a lot worse than Observatory Hill.

Also, to the OP, wherever they may be, that high school is Perry Traditional Academy. It's a magnet school, and there doesn't seem to be any trouble connected with it. Why are people so afraid of living in the city?
