Default lawrenceville to oakland commute

i'm a student at the university of pittsburgh and i am renting a property on 45th street in lawrenceville zipcode 15201. i was wondering if anyone knew the buses that would take me by oakland [forbes/fifth/bigelow] i google maped it and it looks far and from what i've been told the buses are almost always full to the point where they drive past you.

is there any subways or alternative means of getting to oakland? i dont believe pitt has a shuttle i checked their website.

Pitt definitely has shuttles, I see them all over.

go to portauthority.org to plug in destinations and find routes for busses.

It matters kind of hugely where on 45th Street you are. Are you near the Children's Hospital or closer to Butler?

If you're close to Butler, that could be a little bit of a hike. If you're close to the Children's Hospital, you can take the 54C from the corner of Penn & Main closest to the Sunoco all the way to Pitt, very easily. There is definitely not a subway in the East End or really in Pittsburgh generally as a whole (yes, I do know about the Downtown "subway," but come on).

Also, I wait at that intersection each morning during Rush Hour and have never seen a full 54C at that time. It's pretty unlikely that the bus is going to fill with people from the North Side and Strip District before getting to Lawrenceville. I would be more worried if you lived in Bloomfield.

In any case, I live between 42nd and 44th. Welcome to the neighborhood.

I know exactly which part of Lawrenceville you live in and that part is sort of tricky when it comes to getting to Oakland. Lawrenceville is a stone's throw away from Oakland but so very tricky to get there by public transportation. I can't wait for the Lawrenceville-Oakland connector (by railroad) that some of our local politians are supposedly working on...anyway, you can catch a 91A on Butler Street and get off at Penn and Butler (by that statue),cross Penn Avenue and catch the 54C (on the Penn Avenue side of the statue). Or you can walk all the way up to Penn Avenue in Bloomfield by the new Children's Hospital (which will be a little hike since its all uphill) and catch the 54C on the corner of Penn and Main (that's if you don't wanna catch 2 buses by catching the 91A on Butler Street first).
