Default Irish Neighborhoods in Pittsburgh

Where are the Irish ethnic areas in Pittsburgh? I know Bloomfield is Italian; Troy Hill, German; and Polish Hill is Polish and all three seem to be decent areas. However I like to know if there is any Irish neighborhoods in Pittburgh. I am of Irish and German descent and I love to explore areas that have folks of my ethnic background. My husband and I were in Pittsburgh in Feb. for the Steelers Superbowl and we visited a few local bars in Troy Hill. We chatted with some of the locals and we had a quite pleasant experience. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Seems to be a lot of Irish in the Greenfield area of the city. I know that's were the Irish Center is located.

Joe Magarac is on a distinguished road
Most of the Irish neighborhoods have evaporated as folks moved to the suburbs. Manchester used to be very Irish, and so did Garfield (home of St. Lawrence O'Toole Parish) and the lower Hill (formerly St. Brigid). Now all three are black.

Copanut is right; there are some Irish folks in Greenfield. Look for the "ILM" (Irish Lynch Mob) graffiti.

Lawrenceville has a strong AOH contingent, and you'll see plenty of Irish flags in Brighton Heights. Both those neighborhoods have strong Irish-American dive bars: Kelly's Korner in Lawrenceville and Big Cat Pat's in Brighton Heights. But that's really about it. And none of them can compete with the ethnicity of Bloomfield, Morningside, Troy Hill, and Polish Hill.

Lawrenceville and Greenfield have some Irish people but it isn't a real Irish place like Bloomfield is to Italians.

I don't think Pittsburgh has any real ethnic neighborhoods anymore. At least not like they were 100 years ago. There may be pockets of Polish or Italian or Irish old-timers, but most cultures have blended together.
