WTF...someone with an AK-47 on the loose in Stanton Heights!
1016 Fairfield Street. Surprising considering that Stanton Heights is one of the better neighborhoods in Pittsburgh..
Two officers shot...more officers down....watch it unfold on WPXI..VERY INTENSE SITUATION, they're saying..

You're kidding! I let my son go to a party an Stanton Heights just a few days ago!
It was his first time going into the city, I let him go because he's old enough to learn the city.
I considered Stanton Heights a safe place to start.

I can't find it on the news.
I can hear the helicopters flying in that direction of the city.
They've been flying around for the past hour, but I didn't think for a minute it was anything important.

Stanton Heights is pretty safe. Don't let this incident scare you. Seems like someone just decided to go CRAZY this morning. Craziness can happen anywhere at anytime. It can take one little thing to make a person just 'snap'..
The negotiating team is on the scene right now. Lots of officers down, still....someone in that house was shooting at officers out the window with an AK-47...the suspect remains inside the home with a family member.
Channel 11 has it on. (WPXI).

I saw a brief clip on CNN. It's one house. Officers went to a domestic call and three officers were shot.
Up to 80 shots have been fired in the past two hours---all coming from the same house.
So it's not really an gunman "on the loose" but it's still very unexpected for Stanton Heights.
These types of things can happen all over the country in any neighborhood -- especially when the economy is bad.

Agreed. This hasn't changed my mind about Stanton Heights. Reading your first post, it sounded like an all out drug war, and we don't really get that type of shooting here in Pittsburgh even in the bad neighborhoods.

Yeah, when I originally made this thread, the news was still pretty scatchy. The made it sound like he was outside shooting.

Two officers confirmed dead. 1 in critical. I believe more casualties are going to be coming down.
