This is "Charlie No Face" in Beaver County.
This story was told to me by my parents as a young kid to get me home by dark. Charlie no-face was his name...In fact, the Beaver County Times did an article about it. He was considered the boogey man where I live and yes, I have told my kids about it too.

The B-25 Mitchell was a WWII era twin (propellor) engine bomber. The B-52 Stratofortress is an 8 engine jet bomber, originally built in the 50s. Some are still in service today. The 52 is about three times as big as the 25. It would be a lot harder to not find a B-52...
One that probably most people have not heard, about the slag dump at Nine Mile Run (now Summerset at Frick Park), is that there is a railroad steam locomotive buried there. Some say as many as five of them. I don't know whether that's true or not, but I've been told by a source I deem to be credible, that there is a bulldozer buried out there somewhere.
There's also an urban legend that there's an unfortunate construction worker entombed in the concrete of the Westinghouse bridge. Can anybody verify that one?
On edit: Hey! That B-25 crash wasn't far from the slag dump. I wonder if they.... ?
Nah.

My Dad worked at the USS Homestead works and claimed he saw the plane go into the river. I still remember how upset/unnerved he was when he got home that evening.
Did he actually see it? I don't know... but it did happen over the bridge he used to take on his way home and the time was about right. He was adamant about it.

Never heard that one... but it was amazing how a once really good pitcher could just lose it!

That one was right up there with Jack Lambert beating the crap out of Mean Joe Greene.
Blass really did lose it, who knows. Do a google, he just had two hole in ones on the same 18 holes a few days ago.
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Yeah, but what was he doing at the time???
Rather, what was being done to him at the time?

Oh geez.... I had a friend that experienced the same fate if I get your drift.
Hadn't heard that... and I'm making an assumption here. I'll just say he must have been distracted.

Two women survived the crash, neither one his wife. Say no more.

I was still living in Pittsburgh when that happened and for the life of me I don't remember that. Oh well, guess I was out of the loop as usual.

I grew up in Beaver County and I always thought "Charlie No-Face" was an urban legend as in, not true. However, I read the BC Times article within the last few years; he was a real person. Sad.
