I didnt mean to start all of this on this forum. I was only asking about black people in Bethel Park, I have lived in parts of the country where black people are not treated equal I lived in Kentucky and had a cross burned in my yard. So I was just asking a question about Bethel Park. I am sorry that I started all of this thank you to all of the RESPECTFUL people that gave their opinion

To sum it all up, no, you will not have a cross burned in your yard in Bethel Park. Despite what some people might have you believe, it's a fine area full of middle-class families and you will be welcomed there. There is nothing to be concerned about if you move there.

Bethel Park will be fine. Any of the surrounding townships will be fine too. I looked on Craig's list and there are quite a few apartments that fall within your price range. Someone mentioned that Washington was more central to your two locations. You might want to see if there's something in Washington County, but those areas will be more rural. There will be more for you to do near the area you are already considering. And you'll be closer to Pittsburgh when you're home.

You're taking one comment out of an entire post and trying to claim that i'm intollerant, ignorant, racism, and a homophobe. The point of it was that there is no reason to question how he would be treated in Bethel Park. The only reason why someone would even think of asking it is if they say the demographics and assumed there could be an issue there. IF that's what he did, then I suggested he stay in Chicago. You make it sound as if I wrote "What, you're black? Stay in chicago!" From what I've read of your previous posts you had seemed like a fair person. To have you of all people make that type of rash judgement is disappointing. The claims that you and your friends have made should not be thrown around lightly. I certainly hope I'm treated a bit more fairly in the future.

I guess we're all being misunderstood tonight. I didn't mean you were intollerant of his race. I meant you were intollerant of an opinion you perceived.

I do understand what you're saying. Zip was funny. I apologize for enjoying that a little too much. I realize you feel that it was at your expense.
You will be treated fairly by me. I promise.

SMH....Lets not act like Bethel Park is so liberal and tolerant of AA's/Blacks. Years ago, as a teen I used to work in BP and(I'm black btw)they treated me like garbage. The employers treated me like garbage, the majority of customers were white and they treated me like garbage.....I wasn't even allowed to be a cashier.....LOL....alot of the young white men were though....I quit that job after a month!! I think this is a valid question Op asked and I don't know why people are flipping out over op's question! Btw I wouldn't move to BP.....I'd try my luck in the southside maybe...you'll be closer to the city!!

I wouldn't move to Pittsburgh period. As a black woman I can say that, no I haven't had a cross burned on my lawn, but I have been called a ****** (on more than one occasion), been followed around a store (just a few months ago) in Monroeville and can name countless other examples of why Pittsburgh is not a good place for black people. A lot of Pittsburghers are very much set in their ways and wish the "good old days" would return. If I could talk my hubby into moving I would leave this city so fast, but that's out of the question. If this has offended anyone sorry...it is what it is.

MarqueseGilmore i think you are a little confused. African Americans and blacks are the same thing, therefore you do not need to type "AA's/Blacks". In fact it is a common misconception that all black people are from Africa, most of them were born and raised right here in America and have nothing to do with Africa. I propose that from now on every time someone uses the phrase "African-American", they must also refer to white people as European Americans.
Pghsucks, I have been called a cracker before; is Pittsburgh racists against whites err....European Americans, now too? I also find it funny that the word "cracker" is not asterisked out, and frankly I am offended.
This is a stupid question all around. There is just as much racism towards whites as there is against blacks around here, and i have been through all parts of the city. Bethal Park is a nice place, a good move for anyone regardless of race. I would say though if your looking for a place in between then look at Greensburg--A nice place with that about 45 min from Uniontown and 40 min from Pittsburgh.
