Bethel Park for African Americans
How is Bethel Park for African Americans? I grew up in Uniontown PA and now live in Chicago. I am thinking about taking a job working at the airport for the ACAA. Besides Bethel Park can you think of any place else that would be a good place to live. Have no kids and would like to spend less than 600 for a one bedroom apartment that is updated (central air, dishwasher) I would like someplace close to the airport but also close to Uniontown.
I have been looking in Weirton, Bethel Park, Corraopolis and Sewickly. (Sorry if I spelled it wrong)
Any help would be appreciated

Well, Bethel Park is a typical Pittsburgh suburb that emerged after WWII in the South Hills. Here is a website with data. It should be no problem for African Americans. It is mostly home owners, but there are some apartments like Lincoln on route 19. They proably start higher than $600.00 per month, but you may be able to find something in the township. I live in O'hara, which is similar to Bethel Park and I pay $500.00 per month. Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitors sites is not allowed

LOL I think you need to pick one or the other, because they are both quite a ways from eachother.

There's no reason to pick on or the other. It's entirely possible to live between the two locations.

This is dumb. Why would you even ask such a dumb question? If you grew up in Uniontown, then you should have a fairly good idea of the region. Have you ever heard of racist activity in Bethel Park before? Have you ever heard of assaults on black people or klan activity in Bethel Park before? Of course not. It's a very low crime, quiet, family-orieted suburban community. What I bet you did do is see on wikipedia that like 96% of Bethel Park is white and you made bigoted assumptions about the people of the community based on that. That's pretty sad. We certainly don't need people like that in western PA. glad you left uniontown. stay in chicago. tell rev. wright i said what's up.

Since you are good at correcting others, this is what the OP said
"I would like someplace close to the airport but also close to Uniontown."
Entirely possible to live between, but I'm pretty sure impossible to be "close" to both.

Woah calm down, while there I agree with some of what you said, come on. In a neighborhood that is nearly all of a certain group there is a better chance of seeing intolerance to your presence. However, if you want to be between the airport and Uniontown, Bethel Park is not a great bet if your on Google Maps and look where the two are Bethel Park is further from Uniontown. Somewhere like Washington, PA would be a better middle spot.

Wow! Poster wanted to know if Bethel Park was tolerant... and somehow you invoked the KKK, kicked them out of western PA, and topped it off with some rev Wright.
Somebody here might have some unresolved issues... mixed in with a lot of anger.

Maybe you should ask yourself why you don't stand up to people asking foolish and divisive questions like this. It happens a lot, and without reason. I'm tired of seeing dumb questions about whether or not Cranberry or Robinson is safe for a minority to live. It's a foolish question and should be called out as such. People like you are the same types of people that jump all over a white person if they ask about the safety of living in East Liberty. At least those questions have merit. I don't know, maybe it's me. Maybe I'm not "progressive" enough to see the massive hatred in Wexford.
