Default Still Living in a Dump or at least in some areas

Trashburgh remains strong and vibrant. Despite numerous calls to the mayor's office many areas of the city remain cluttered with trash. And while I feel like screaming inside city hall, I also feel incredible frustration towards those that continue to expell trash and anything else they feel like tossing, throwing or dumping.
In my book Pittsburgh is near the top as dirty, trash filled cities go. The view driving down route 65 near the city line is like looking at a third world envrionment. Trying to walk up a Perrysville avenue sidewalk one will encounter 6 foot long tree limbs, worn underware, crushed milk cartons and exposed 4 inch tubing snaking all over the place.
In the past month I have been to Toronto, Boise, Denver, Kansas City, Baltimore, Columbus, Montreal, Birmingham, Wilmington and Miami. Not one of these city's had the widespread visible trashing that Pittsburgh has. I guess it's give the people what they want. Amen Mayor Luke and project Redd Up..

Have you contributed any volunteer time cleaning up trash? Or do you just complain?

My family volunteers to clean up trash many times a year with the boy scouts---sometimes we do streams, sometimes we do highways.

This would be an excellent way for you to volunteer for the community since you're so passionate about it.

I've seen much worse in Philadelphia. It must be a Pennsylvania thing.

How does one really experience 11 different cities in ONE month. Dude, being in a city for a few days doesn't really give the 100% perception of living there.

I lived in Denver. I remember walking through North Denver under I-70 back from Commerce city. There was a large amount of trash there too. Sure Denver's downtown, and Cherry creek was nice. But it also had its poor areas filled with litter.

You have never been to a third world country, have you?

Talk about an offensive statement...

I agree with Hopes. Stop whining and clean up your own neighborhood.

Like people have said, instead of waiting for the city to do something, why don't you get some neighbors together and form a litter brigade? Picking up trash is something simple that everyone can do, and doing it yourself avoids wasting city resources and taxpayer money to send crews out, etc.

Because it is so much easier to complain that someone else should do it!

Seriously, there's not magical trash fairies that come around and wave their magic wand and the trash disappears. Someone has to do it. If it bothers someone that much, they should be out there helping instead of complaining.
