Default New Downtown park

Quote:
A small stamp of land now used for construction activity related to the new Three PNC Plaza office tower Downtown will morph into a midtown oasis in a matter of months....
It will feature a center lawn, pathways and benches on each side. A stainless steel structure will be built over the top of the benches on one side of the park to provide shade from the sun. The benches will have armrests to prevent people from sleeping on them.
There will be LED lights embedded in the pavement and lights in the stainless steel structure. Combined, they will provide a "real soft glow" to the park at night, Mr. LaQuatra said.
Small park on the way at Three PNC

Do we really need another park downtown? Sooner or later I feel like downtown is going to become an "oasis" of parks and parking garages like Detroit.

I never thought I'd hear anyone complain about adding a green space in the acres of concrete and steel that is downtown Pittsburgh. You would rather see this space become....what?

Detroit is a somewhat loaded example--places like New York and Paris have lots of downtown parks as well, and they are doing OK.

Maybe a small building or resturant. Not a park. I think we could use a store or something there.

Have you seen the construction site?

It's going to be a VERY small park. But that area could use some geenery.

I just hope it's not one of those concrete parks with a few trees here and there.

There are plenty of buildings on 5th avenue available for retail. Market Square & Fifth Avenue place already have food.

Why not just call it a yard instead of a park? Isn't a park normally bigger?
