I think you're missing the point. It's extremely difficult to find someone to do this type of work in Pittsburgh. Even people willing to tollerate texting can't find anyone to do work. Pittsburgh doesn't have much of an immigrant population. Parents buy children everything they need. The teens who need money usually don't have cars to get into the suburbs.

This stuff is amazing. I planned to be in the office all day so I could meet with a roofer to give me a bid, another guy to give a deck repair estimate, and yet another one to spray my omni-stone driveway and hillside with weed killer. Here I sit at 4 PM and not one of those guys has shown.

Unbelievable.

Try servicemagic.com.

I needed an electrician, and literally less than ten seconds after choosing one of their suggestions (all rated and vetted), my phone was ringing. He was very prompt and the price was fair.

I called a seniors place to get a frozen, busted water pipe fixed. They sent a youngster around 20 who brought his much younger brother/helper along. Job well done. Cost $15. He drove to the east burbs from Imperial. (Yes, I tipped him.)

For fifteen bucks an hour I will come and talk to you and if we come to an agreement I will show up and do the work... I am a student new to the area, and I need work... that being said I am a student paying his own way and not on mommy and daddy's dime. I don't text because the only person I care enough to call or text is my girlfriend who has a job at home and doesn't text and call during work hours anyway.

I actually did get a name and number from the Mexican restaurant. I spoke with the gentleman who said he currently gets 20 bucks a hour. I told him to stop by and we could negotiate, he never did. Anyway, I got lucky with a high school kid from a friend. He and his buddy have been here the last two weekends working their tails off.

I don't know what being an immigrant has to do with it. When I was in my mid twenty's, I worked for a plumber and remember digging ditches for gas lines in sub zero weather for a couple a bucks an hour. I really didn't think to much about it at the time, I just did the work. I'm not sure why you can't get anyone to do the work, maybe kids have it to easy today and it is way to easy to get government money. Just act a little crazy and uncle sam writes you a monthly check, or find a good doctor who will say your disabled and you get free money. Why work!

Teenagers make over $8/hr working easy jobs. My kids and their friends are accumulating huge savings accounts because they take home $200/week. They have no expenses because they're only 16 and living with thier parents. So why on earth would they want to do heavy labor for $15/hr? They simply do not need the money!

I put myself through college digging graves, cutting grass, and painting houses. I guess that kind of work is too tough for today's kids, at least in my neighborhood.

Because immigrants are ruining this country. Rush, Sean, and Glenn said so!
