But the first song has been popular for months in hip hop...so why wouldn't WAMO play it? Not everyone is going to like what they hear. I def won't be into catholic radio, so i'll simply find something else to listen to (hopefully the replacement hip hop station all these people are expecting to come!)
And the 2nd song is from the 90s and has been played on both stations for years.

To each his own, but Keri's version doesn't move me at all....I could be biased because I don't really like Keri all like that...something about her annoys me.
Maybe we should debate this in the music sub-forum as not to get off topic..lmao...

There is a certain pulse that unified the African American community and Wamo. IMO that is what will be missed, no matter how much the other networks try to fill the gaps.
I do believe that Wamo needed to diversify in the listening choice. There are alot of young people who have no idea what good music is. They are consumed by the bubble-gum rap and sex-me-up r&b of todays artists. I could hardly stand the same 10 songs being played over and over again, with the occasional old school hour at 12, and then they'd play some old school bubble-gum stuff. Even still I supported Wamo. There is a movement going on right now in Pgh for local artists trying to break into mainstream. Wamo was the only platform. I don't think that Kiss-fm will support people like Wiz Khalifa or S-Money(both local artists)...which once again brings me to that "certain pulse" that the other stations cannot feel. The city is very boring when it comes to entertainment for African Americans. With Wamo gone that emptiness will increase. The truth be told, Pgh is a city that caters to the White Populus, so this summer while they have their bbq's they will have their choice music to enjoy, while there will be none of that in the hood!

See the thread that I started last fall "WDVE not my cup of tea" As for WAMO, It is not much different than 96.1 KISS or B94. I used to listen to WAMO in the early 80s when they were playing groups like Shalimar, The GAP band, S.O.S. Band, etc. Nobody wants melody any more. It is all about attitude and acting like a bad a**.

I'm with you. I loved WAMO when I lived in Pittsburgh, but that was 20 years ago. S.O.S Band, The Gap Band, etc..they were great music. There's almost none of that anymore as you say.
Commercial radio here in Tampa is a dismal wasteland too. It's all 80's (and the worst of the 80's, not the good stuff, sigh) bangin' and twangin, religious, or those talk formats where two *******s banter back and forth endlessly. It's all U2 all the time. I think all commercial radio everywhere is probably garbage. And what really sucks, is it's a medium that is so simple to play, but what comes out is so bad.

LOL...I can dig it, but my point was that it's not all about the music. The Urban Communities felt a quasi~ownership in Wamo, whether we were tuned in or not. I guess that bubble's burst. Money Comes First!
