1. The roads. It's cliche at this point but the condition of the roads here are the worst I've seen in this country and several others I've visited. Not to mention that this is the only major city I've ever been to that has major highways that are only 2 lanes.
2. The weather. Gray and gloomy the majority of the year, and the winters here are brutal due to ice storms. Summers are very humid as well.
3. Close minded people. Pittsburghers do not know of a world outside their bubble and it's a bit scary. It's a very "stuck in their ways" mindset here that will never ever change. Not to mention there's alot of hidden racism here from people in a "Pennsyltucky" mindset.
4. Political corruption. Democrats have been jacking this city up my entire life and they're never voted out of a office, nuff said.
5. High taxes. Since I'm involved in the rental business, property taxes (among other things) are pretty brutal. Despite our "most livable city" status we're paying a ton in taxes and getting very little in return.
6. Low wages. I know the whole cost of living is low, but that only goes so far when the majority of companies want to pay $20 - $25k below the lowest point of the national median for white collar jobs.
7. Construction. I can leave my house in from 4 different directions and all four are under heavy construction (not an exaggeration). I've never seen this much road construction anywhere I've been, it's insane.
8. Lack of cultural diversity. Granted this IS getting better, you'd be hard pressed to find the same mashup of cultures in Pittsburgh as you would in other cities. Also Pittsburghers aren't the most accepting people of other cultures as well.
9. Topography. If you need to go somewhere, you're going up and down some hills. This creates a ton of problems in the winter and can be very confusing to get around in even if you're a local. The lack of a city grid can be problematic as well. Also this helps to destroy any chance of having a decent public transportation system.
10. Lack of any good flights. Despite a large population here, you have to go to Philly or NY to get to any decent destinations and the prices for flights here are pretty high.
All and all, my main issue with the city is the road system/topography/construction issues, they're absolutely mind blowing to me and I've lived here all my life. With that said there IS alot to do here and I've never viewed this city as dirty. I've been to some really boring place and some really dirty places (like Philadelphia) and Pittsburgh isn't even close on that list.

To me, the real close-minded people fall into two categories:
1. Those who have no basis for comparison, yet ***** about how terrible Pittsburgh is.
2. Those who have left, but believe that they've "made it" in life simply because they don't live in Pittsburgh anymore.
Furthermore, Pittsburgh will change. It's much different now than it was in 1980, and not all for the worse either.

This is probably some flaming toward me, but that's ok. This IS a thread about listing things you hate about the city after all. I could easily come up with 10 things I love about Pittsburgh too, but that'd be off topic.
very very old and depressing
the people, rude and boring
nothing to do
no fun
all about work work work
the roads
the weather
ugly
stuck in the 70's
their accent
mullet hair styles
all they talk about is sports because there is nothing else in pittsburgh other than sports
they gave it the right name, PITTSBURGH because it is the PITTS
the people are all wannabes
expensive and ugly
I understand that this thread was all about hate. Yet, it is no coincidence that this recent post was the one to revive it over a year later. It is all generalizations and stereotypes. Could this be the same Pittsburgh that has the highest percentage of college grads age 25 -34 in the USA? They must have low IQs for choosing to live here.
yes, i agree with the guy 2 posts up, very very negative and depressing people and place.
and by your posts, you're just a bubble of sunshine that must be uber cool and extremely fun to hang out with.
mine:
Unions
Yinzers
Iron City beer
Everybody wears to much Steeler garb
Donny Iris
Pot Holes
Fries on food
Ketchup
The extremely obese people & the people who wear old 80s hairband shirts at Kennywood (seriously don't know where these people come from)
No medicinal marijuana shops yet. I just want to get a card for my "health condition". Going off these damn hippies gets annoying. Can't I just go buy it at a store like my friends in Denver do?. I mean WTF?

Roads - No "beltway" expressway system, unless you count I-376, I-79 and I-76. Many roads in poor shape, too many potholes.
Politics - I don't have to explain this one.
Medical - UPMC has a near-monopoly on the area and it will only hurt our medical infrastructure in the near future.
Media - Radio stations have little variety, news stations are too focused on sports. The newspapers are okay, depending on what you prefer to read.
Weather - Either cloudy or rainy/snowy most of the time.
Public Transportation - T only runs from Downtown to South Hills, buses are limited to certain areas, high fares
Downtown - Pretty stagnant when it comes to retail or nightlife, the Cultural District is the only exception.
Live Entertainment - Hardly any variety when it comes to music venues in the area, we only have a handful of small ones that can hold several hundred people or the large ones that can accomodate several thousands, nothing in between.
Taxes - Everything is through the roof, thank your politicians for it.
Resistance - Things take a little longer to happen around here. Many people and businesses are resistant to change.

Your whole list (except for one thing) seems to be a parody of every troll post ever posted here about Pittsburgh. Except for "expensive". Even the most blatant troll knows it's not expensive to live here. Good try.
