Another nice day trip by train is Pittsburgh to Connellsville, leave Pgh at 5:30AM (when the Capitol Limited is on time), get to Connellsville just after 7AM, rent a bike and bike all day along the old B&O line, enjoy dinner, and then board around 9PM for arrival in Pittsburgh at 11PM. $28 round trip.

Also, don't forget Cleveland, which is about 2 hrs to downtown. The West Side Market and Ohio City are fun places to stroll along and the Rock and Roll Museum is popular, as well. The downtown area is distinctly different from Pittsburgh with wide sidewalks and even wider streets.

jmantra is on a distinguished road
Another place you might want to check out is Washington County, they have 21 covered bridges throughout the county and most of them are still driveable. Their is the Meadowcroft Village museum of Rural life near Avella, PA. There is the trolley museum near Washington, PA. On certain weekends they'll operate the trolley if you have drivers license, first come first serve basis though. Washington and Canonsburg are nice towns to drive through, both have interesting architecture and artifiacts.
