Default What can you tell me about the Finleyville area?

Some of you might recall me asking questions about Pittsburgh in general a few months back. The time has come and I got a very good lead on a job located in Finleyville(just southeast of Mt. Lebanon)

Does anyone know anything about this area? It looks like Mt. Lebanon is only 12 miles away which is where we are zeroing in on living. Just looking for other advice or possibly other locations to live within a 20 minute commute to Finleyville.

Thanks in advance.

It's rural, lots of farmland and home to a good farmers market, Trax Farms. But it's also just a few miles from Bethel Park and South Park which has shopping, restaurants, a mall, parks, trails, and access to the T so you can easily go downtown. You might want to look at either of those communities, although Mt Lebanon wouldn't be much further either.

^^ Thanks for the info. How long would be the ride be to "downtown" on the T from Bethel Park? And what other towns around Bethel Park would you recommend in seeing. I will be there in 2 weeks. Schools are a major concern. Thanks.

At rush hour, it can take 40-45 mins to get downtown since it makes EVERY stop along the way. But it's still more relaxing than driving.

Upper St Clair is another area you may consider, I think that is rated as one of the top school districts.

I think Peters Twnshp. is being added to our potential places to live list. Any comments on this area?

Right outside of Finleyville. MUCH better choice. Great schools, TONS of wealth coming in. "The" place to move to in the South Hills for a newer home.

lived in peters for 10 years. Excellent schools, a good mix of older housing and new McMansions. Tons of kids and soccer moms.
Venita is the town next to Finelyville but within the Peteres Township school district. Lots of newer homes there.

Good parks and Rec dept, great Library and community events, low crime.
