Default Parking on the Southside

I will be moving into an apartment on E. Carson within the next month and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where I will be able to get free reliable safe close parking [im going to be between 19th and 20th]

Thanks!

Parking on the S.Side is going to be bad on weekend nights. Depending on what part of Carson you'll be living on it may be better to look at parking on the side streets.

I don't think any of those go hand in hand.

eh crap I was figuring as much...

I was already planning on parking on the side streets since there's only meteres on E. Carson, so any idea how safe [and by safe I mean people not breaking in and or hitting into me] parking along that wall between st. square and that BP in Southside? Can I even park there over night?

I don't know what the stats are for car break ins in that area, but my wife and I have recently started spending a lot of time on that side of town, and just from what I observe, as a car lover, I'd never leave either of ours on the street. When we visit the area we always park in the garage just off of Carson Street near South Side Works.

You are not going to find free and reliable parking where you are. I live in the "quiet" section of the SS (Sarah St near SS Works) and it can be tough to find a parking spot after 7 pm during the week and all day on the weekends. You can probably find a nearby lot that will rent you an uncovered spot for $75-$100/month. My landlord wants $100/month and the cheapest covered parking for me is $140/month at the SS Works ($105/month if you rent at the Flats).

Seems like living in the Flats its best to be more Transit oriented then dependand on a Car....If you need to have your car its better in the Slopes.

Just put a folding chair in the spot you pull out of. By Pittsburgher law, the space is your until you move the chair.

Parking on the South Side is God awful. I think you'll just have to live with it, but living on the South Side is very cool.
