Question Moving to Brighton Twp

Our family is relocating from Canada and moving to Beaver County next month and we're wondering what activities are available in the area during the summer? We have kids (aged 11 & 13) so it's important we get them involved in things i.e. sports to make new friends, etc. before starting school.

Any suggestions from anyone who lives in or around Brighton Township. Any info will be appreciated.

Hello,

I grew up in the neighboring township of South Beaver, have not lived in the area for over 20 years, but I'm sure if you/family like an outdoor lifestyle you will like it there. I practically lived in the outdoors as a kid hunting/fishing/hiking, and in your neck of the woods these type of activities abound. There are public pools available, a nice ice rink, tons of golf courses nearby, rifle/pistol/trap/skeet shooting ranges, tennis courts, Brady's Run Park, organized baseball, the Beaver River.... Lots for kids and families to do.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, Beaver school district is where your children will attend in Brighton Twp, and it is a good one, ranked I think 50-ish out of 425 or so in the state. Might consider a move to the town of Beaver. Very nice town (my mums family if from there) and it remains a very nice place to live in Beaver county, IMO, the best:

The Official Borough of Beaver, PA Website

Tired of the outdoorsy stuff ?... Pittsburgh has all the high quality cultural/educational/sport destinations you can stand a very short drive from Brighton Twp. Below are some links you may have already seen; if not I hope they are of some use:

Brighton Twp. Baseball/Softball Club

The Official Beaver County Web Site - Parks and Recreation - Brady's Run Park

I think the area you have chosen to live will meet your needs well, and I wish you and your family the best of luck. Welcome!

Thank you for all the info and helpful links =) It sounds like our family/kids will have plenty to do and see. Our real estate agent had us touring around the city of Beaver and it looks so quaint. We did in fact buy a house in Brighton Twp and the kids will be in the Beaver Area School District, which is supposed to be a very good district indeed.

Thanks for the warm welcome Jay_F

Very welcome, and being that my frequency of moves during the last 25 years would make a Bedouin blush, along with all the stress/frustration that goes with the territory, it's nice to read an "everything's turning up roses" story... I'm happy for you!

Lots of Beaver grads in my family, and I think you will be well pleased with the education and activities your children will be exposed to. Now the fun part begins with trips to Beaver for Burt's, Brewster's ice cream, Jerry's, Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe, Kretchmar's bakery... Enjoy!

We haven't even moved "officially" and my DD already put in a special request that her upcoming birthday cake come from Kretchmar's and I certainly don't think I'll have to do much arm twisting to get my family to go for hot dogs & ice cream Thank goodness Brady's Run Park is close as we'll need to go burn those delicious calories off somehow.
