Default Places to See

I am in Pittsburgh for a few months for work.
Where are some places to go see that are within an hour and half around Pittsburgh to go see?
I have already been up to New Wilmington to see the Amish... have already been to Niagara Falls since it is pretty close.. and have seen a lot around Pittsburgh (I think).

You should visit Fallingwater if you haven't already. If you like caves, the Laurel Caverns are pretty cool. Ohiopyle is fun if you like whitewater rafting (or want to try it). There are lots of interesting small towns in the range you mentioned--here is a link to a recent discussion:

What, pretty close?!?!? Don't you realize that there area Pgh'ers that won't even go over a bridge to cross a river?

You have to see Mt. Washington, take the incline closest to the West End, that way you can see the photos of Pgh during the 40's and 50's when the street lights came on at noon as it was so dark due to the smog...Hit the strip, go on a Saturday when you can hear jazz at one of the cafe's, can't remember which one...get drunk and go to Primanti's, only time it tastes good...take a 2 hour Clipper cruise, gives you the general layout of the city...hit Falling Water and 7 Springs...Be one of 100's and take in a Bucco game. Great stadium, cold beer, good food, and the opposing team is full of Major leaguers...hit the museums in Oakland...take in the Pgh Zoo...the city theater on the South Side has quality plays and you can urinate on the buildings if you go on a weekend, just kidding...Have fun!!!

DC/Baltimore are about as close as Niagara Falls and there's a lot more to do and see there... But really if we're talking within an hour and a half, go with Copenut's list. Should be enough to keep you entertained for three months!

Also, Pittsburgh is renowned for its many distinct neighborhoods, spend an evening in one and see what you find! Butler St in Lawrenceville, Liberty Ave in Bloomfield, Carson St on the Southside, Penn Circle in East Liberty, Smallman & Penn in the Strip, Grandview Ave in Mt Washington, Murray & Forbes in Squirrel Hill, Ellsworth & Walnut in Shadyside, see a rock concert at Mr. Smalls in Millvale or a jazz concert at the Manchester Craftsmens Guild on the Northside (but don't go looking for anything else in Manchester!)... the list goes on...

If you choose to go back up north to Niagara Falls, consider also exploring Niagara-on-the-Lake. Lovely wine country and home to the Shaw Festival.

New River Gorge is a beautiful national river in West Virginia.

And Presque Isle in Erie is a nice little state park, PA's only "seashore."

These are all more like day/weekend trips ...

Cleveland is another good option. The West Side Market is a great place to stroll around and Cleveland has many fine restaurants including Pier W which has a phenomenal view of the city from a cliff overlooking Lake Erie.

There is the Riverfront Antique Mall in New Philadelphia Ohio which is pretty large and if you take 22 to 250 (Cadiz, OH), there are some additional antique shops along the way, plus many more in Ohio. In fact, you might want to get a list of Ohio and Western PA antique shops and plan for a day cruise.

Wheeling, WV is also a nice little town for a day trip.
