I would love to hear any recommendations on any movers that you found did good job in a local move. Along with any tips on doing a local-move.

We plan to move about 20miles - from Robinson Twp to Wexford. So far thinking of us moving all the small stuff and let the movers do the back-breakers. The back breaker are the king mattress, large sofas, buffett&Hutch, treadmil, grill, dresses, etc. -not a whole lot. Not damaging the stuff is important.
I have heard of some movers using college kids who did not do a good job. Nothing against college kids - but I think moving furniture through doors is a bit of art and brute force itself is not sufficient.

After I get estimates I can let anyone that would be interested about what made financial sense.
Thank you!

We used Dorr's Wilkinsburg Moving Exchange for a short local move, following a recommendation from another poster here, in fact. We were basically able to get a four-man crew for the hourly price of a two-man crew anywhere else. The crew they sent was all mature guys (and I share your sense you want a bit of experience in your crew for a heavy duty move), and they were very accomodating (e.g., they stopped by a storage locker we had to pick up some more stuff).
