The jazz list is monstrous!

Billy Eckstine
Earl Hines
Errol Garner
Billy Strayhorn
Ahmad Jamal
Stanley Turrentine
Tommy Turrentine
Mary Lou Williams
Dakota Staton
Art Blakey
George Benson
Maxine Sullivan
Ray Brown
Roy Eldridge

These are all heavyweights. I didn't even list any of the guys who were mainly local players, like Walt Harper.

His parents still live here, and when he comes back, he dresses as an Amish dude. Lol.

My history teacher grew up with him and every time he comes back, he and my history teacher get together and have a beer.
I can picture him with an Amish straw hat, overalls and beard!!LOL!!!

I heard he spent a considerable amt of time in his youth hanging out at Metropol, etc.
Also his dad had a plumbing /heating business. Many commercial heating systems around the Burgh have Reznor Heating-Mercer, printed on the compressors, etc. That's him, right?

Yep, Girl Talk is from here. Also Grand Buffet and Wiz Khalifa are from here as well. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting.

Do you mean "Shanice"? Also she was born here, but she moved to California when she was a small child.

Did anyone say Bobby Vinton? I mean Canonsburg just had a day named after him this past summer and he was floating around town then.

Snap (of "I've Got The Power" fame) was from McKeesport.

Yeah, you're right- her name was Shanice, not Shawnice. Was a long time ago so I was wrong on name. She had a great sound, though.
