Default Gay-Accepting Areas?

Hello. I'm a 47 year old professional male who will be moving to Pittsburgh later this summer. I welcome any input you might have about areas where a single man of my age would easily fit and feel comfortable. I will likely look for a house in the towns south of Pittsburgh such as South Park, Upper St. Clair, Mt. Lebanon and Bethel Park in order to be within a relatively short driving distance to family members. I'm not looking for a gay district but rather a neighborhood where my throwing a football with my nephews or my taking care of elderly relatives without the help of a wife would be perceived as "normal" as the mother and father across the street doing the same.

Thanks for your constructive input. I look forward to receiving it.

I'm not sure how you doing those things would allude to you being gay..? Wouldn't you appear to simply be a gentleman bachelor to the naive eye? Are you asking where a neighborhood would be where people wouldn't judge a gay uncle for throwing a football with his nephew? I doubt those neighborhoods would be hard to find. I'm a young gay male and have never had a single ounce of trouble in all of my experiences in Pittsburgh.

Thowing a football with your nephews or taking care of elderly relatives is accepted anywhere in Pittsburgh. What are you really asking? Gay people do live here too.

You know, I complain a lot about Pittsburgh, but one thing that I must say is the people here are pretty nice and aren't particularly judgemental. I actually hear much less complaints from my gay friends about Pittsburgh than I have in other areas that I've lived in (areas that even have a "liberal" image).

To answer your question, I think... the area you picked is a good one. Most of Pittsburgh is fairly open minded when it comes to gay people. I'm not sure why exactly, but I'm not complaining.

The area you area looking at is generally a little bit on the wealthy and more educated spectrum - they aren't ignorant bastards if you catch my drift
