No, not all the people are snobs. But it's true that over half the population of USC lives in a $300,000 or above. (Which is much higher in cities with a higher cost of living) There is a house for sale for $3,000,000 dollars right now, the USC street signs are even ornate looking (unlike surrounding communities) and every new house being built in USC is selling for $400,000 at least. Don't believe me? Type in "Cook School Road, 15241" on google earth. All new houses being built. I also think that USC gets it's reputation from the school district kids too. Naturally, the older neighborhoods in USC have more senior citizens along with a few kids. But most of these kids come from the 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath crowd.

Upper St. Clair is upper middle class. There is no diversity in the school district, which means there is a highly insulated bubble that surrounds the district. But a lot of the kids are responsible and well educated. It's true, there is a much higher amount of snobbery in USC. I don't know how anyone could deny that fact.

All of the houses in my neighborhood and the ones like mine were built in the early 1950's, same for the other areas I have looked at in USC where there are cheaper houses.

I grew up in USC all my life. My family made an income off 100k and we lived in a 5 bedroom 3 bath house. It was defently a comfy lifestyle, after graduating HS there I recieved an education from a top collage and now am living on my own. People say that USC is full of "snobs" and "brats", howevever i disagree, I recieved the best education in the entire country, and made wonderful down-to- eart friends.

Too funny! The "best education in the entire country" mindset is itself snobby.

I guess spelling was not part of the best education in the entire country.

My first thought upon reading this was that Pantherette was trying to be facetious. As a fellow graduate of USC I hope that is the case.

I grew up there - it wasn't that rich or snobby.

I once got an open container ticket in New York City and when the rookie cop saw my ID with a USC address the first thing she said was "I'm from the white trash town of McKees Rocks."

It's all relative in Pittsburgh - If you want to see snobby go to Connecticut.

USC had a lot of smug country club conservatives but even today people tease me about growing up there and I think "get real - I wish anybody I knew from there was half as important as you think."

You're missing the point. The reputation comes from the people themselves who think they're important when they're not.

That certainly happens, but my point is that most people there aren't that self-important, they're just treated that way by people who are insecure about where they are from.

All through high school and college when people asked where I was from I said I was from the South Hills because if I said Upper St. Clair I was afraid they'd paint me as a snob right away - I knew plenty of other USC kids who did this too.

Although I knew some snobby USC kids too, but no worse than people I met around Wexford when I was living out that way.

Bingo!

Out here we call them Wexford Wives, the kind that never worked. As to USC, my snobby brother lives there. I always laugh when we get his Christmas card, the return address is Upper St. Clair, hey bro, 15241 is Pittsburgh!!!
