I was just curious.

Was pricing hotels for a possible visit in case I have to come up for an interview, and everything near downtown was all running like $270-280, even on Expedia and such.

I see today the same hotels are around $140. Anybody know what was going on? Festivals or something? I knew G20 wasn't until September.

I'll bet it was for the big fishing tournament that was in town last week. I didn't realize it, but this thing was the World Series of fishing and thousands of people came in for it. I drove past the Mellon Arena yesterday and it was packed for the final weigh-in.

You mean it wasn't for all the people coming in for the thrilling Nationals-Pirates series?

Aha. Thanks everyone.

Sounds like any of those might have been possibles. Whatever it was, I'm liking the nice lower rates!

Okay, and? People come from far and wide to go to Steeler's training camp. You ever listen to the local news and see where these people are traveling from? Latrobe area hotels aren't handling all those folks.

It was the bass fishing tournament. I work in the hotel industry and we were packed all week. It was for adults and kids.

Latrobe and Greensburg hotels were full. So many stayed there.
I'll bet more of those out-of-town fans stayed in Monroeville than downtown.

Most of the crowd doesn't stay anywhere... they just make a daytrip and go back to their own homes.

Pittsburgh does need at least 2 more grand hotels within Downtown area...The Little B&B's arent enought...

They need 1 in the Strip and 1 in the Fifth Ave area around the New Arena.....
