Well, if you are talking custard... Hank's Frozen Custard is an oldie but goodie.

But, IMHO, ice cream and custard are totally different things!

Dave and Andy's is good. My favorite, though, is Handel's Ice Cream. http://www.handelsicecream.com There is one in West Mifflin. It is a small chain that was started in Youngstown (the original store is about 2 blocks from the house I grew up in). Try the Heavenly Hash!

I like the place in Oakmont, I forget it's name. It's near the indie movie theater there. I haven't been able to try any of these other places mentioned though! They've had teaberry flavor before, mmm!

Ok, hands down, best ice cream/custard in the Pittsburgh area is Glen's Custard in Springdale, mentioned before. It is well worth the trip up the Allegheny. Their apple crisp is fabulous (warm apple crisp covered with melting vanilla custard), but the custard alone is to die for.

Glen's Frozen Custard - Springdale, PA

I agree with Glen's Custard. The place in Oakmont is called Burkee's or something like that.
