I think you're very wise and I hope your attitude and astuteness prevails among your generation. RIAA is old union garbage on their last short leg.

Oh, and for those of you that like country music, denigrate means make fun of.
So calling people who listen to country music bumpkins, hillbillies, stereotyping, and condescendingly defining 'denigrate' aren't forms of degradation?

How about all the posts advocating the expulsion of country music from Pittsburgh? I suppose that's tolerance as well.

No, it's the simple truth

We don't discriminate. We sterotype everyone! We even sterotype ourselves! We have words for rockers, alternatives, hip-hoppers, etc., too!

There was a time when it was so competitive you could call around and price-shop.

In the era of making commemorative coins to celebrate and advertise what a city or state was famous for, Cincinnati was famous for nothing so they decided to say they were the U.S. Music Center and the half dollars were minted in 1936. Likewise, I wonder why Cleveland has the rock-and-roll hall of fame? (Alright, I looked it up. They offered the most money for it in 1983.)

Our city is well positioned now to pull-off about anything it wants, except the politicians can't see past their noses. With all the favorable attention we've finally been getting, and without progressiveness, I'm afraid we'll soon fall into the category of an overrated city.
We shouldn't rely on our politicians. People should set out to do something. Get others involved. Form noprofits. Then pressure the politicians. Even go off the beaten path without them. Once something starts happening, it might not be as difficult to get the city to start the PR.

There are studios here. I know of one music teacher in the south hills who has one. He can't be the only recording studio in town.

Maybe not for you, but it is one of only a few licensed Hofbrauhauses in the country, and it's meant to be a German-style biergarten, not a place for pounding shots.

If that's the case, it's in the wrong part of town.

Why does the city continue to put its efforts into the Southside? It's already well on it's way.

The politicians and developers should move on to another city neighborhood---and I'm not thinking more North Shore garbage either.
