Of course there are already lots of riverfront areas in Pittsburgh which are walkable. And when they complete the Three Rivers Park there will be a continuous riverfront park from the West End Bridge to the 31st Bridge on the Al and the Hot Metal Bridge on the Mon:

No sure what your point is, Pittsburgh is in no sense comparable to Venice, Rome, etc.

The idea that Pittsburgh has been recklessly tearing down old buildings in the name of modernization is just odd. Pittsburgh population has been declining for decades and there is often little reason to destroy old buildings as a result Pittsburgh has modernized much less than comparable cities. Its often used in film just for this reason. Really, your claim is just weird...out of all the things I've heard people say about Pittsburgh how "modern" it is certainly has never been uttered. The complete opposite.

Riverlife: Three Rivers Park

Don't bother. Pittsburgh is a decrepit (though overwhelmingly modernized ) polluted river town (with little or no access to the rivers). People will always believe what they want to believe.

The street lights were on yesterday because of all the smoke. Did anybody see that? Well, back to the cauldron. Break time's over.
