BTW, if you're posting to this now, on a Saturday night, you probably can't be a Pittsburgher because you should be at the bar. ;-)

living in wilkinsburg, i feel pretty funny referring to myself as a suburbanite!

i guess i'm a wilkinsburgian.

seriously, when i'm talking to people from the pittsburgh area, i say i live in wilkinsburg. if i'm talking to people from other areas, i say i live in pittsburgh, cause no one has any idea where wilkinsburg is.

I may not have been inside the city limit but I Pittsburgh was a huge part of my life and I have no hesitation saying I'm from Pittsburgh.

I'd venture to say that folks in Evans City, Cranberry, Butler would also consider themselves Pittsburghers due to the commonality of experiences we've all had with the city, especially when speaking to folks from other metro areas..

I guess it comes down to commonality of experience rather than physical city limit borders.
I find most people like you mention only consider themselves Pittsburghers because they take part in city events and it's sports teams. It's a whole different life actually living in the city.

Do people talk like that? Seriously? :-) Not anywhere I've heard, not even here. You say "I'm from Pittsburgh".
I wonder if people that live in Moon or Mars call themselves Moonies and Martians...
