By hanging at the bottom of the banner, nobody can cut it down or they'll go falling into the river.

Why the hell is this only known at the last minute? So weird. But here is what's going to disrupt downtown this evening at the Point. People allowed in starting at 5:30. I only knew that Jone Jett was having a concert tonight in Point Park. I had no idea it was part of the demonstrations.

I knew there was a Wednesday event at the Point, or kept seeing vague reference to one, with zero details.

Caught the bus at 1:30.

40 State Police marching up Ft Duquesne Blvd.

Hundreds of police in full riot gear marching up Liberty and turning onto Wood.

20 State Police crossing Liberty and heading up Wood.

Random groups of 10 to 20 police eveywhere. One policeman in riot gear at every bus stop I passed.

And, of course, lots of camera journalists running around following them.

Glad I got out of town early!

Already been to Oakland today Hopes? I dunno when this was, looks like late morning judging by the wet.... #G20 protesters march through Oakland on Twitpic

Searching Twitter for #g20 turns up interesting things from time to time (and a lot of useless stuff too, but that's how it goes).

From back on page 2 of this thread, reference the question of whether other cities had turned this offer down first:

Since I happen to be close to the computer this afternoon, I sent Fred Honsberger an "instant access" message and asked for a source I could cite.

"For the sixth time...", said Fred...

(Boy, do I feel ashamed for not paying attention. )

Anyway, he heard it from three different sources inside city government, and said essentially that his word on that should be good enough.

I hope you're all satisfied now.

And don't make me bother him again.

You've validated one of the many reasons why I don't like Honsberger.
