friendship park folks are just chilling at the moment.

so far it's pretty much what i expected, maybe even a little less bad - a little bit of property destruction, no random attacks on civilians or small businesses, contrary to media hype.

we'll see though, it's not over yet.

have they even made any arrests? i haven't seen much of anything. when/if they start arresting people in large numbers, that's when there's the risk of someone getting hurt or worse.

There have been a couple isolated arrests on TV, but no mass arrests.

Generally, so far this seems to be turning out OK given the nature of the event (an illegal, planned confrontation between anarchists and police). I suspect it helps that the police seem to massively outnumber the protesters.

Interesting point just now on KDKA TV: although the police didn't let the protesters go Downtown, they also gave them some freedom of movement, and that may have helped keep things relatively calm.

Well, now it seems like things are getting worse as the anarchists march on Shadyside.

Things were calm when police threw pepper spray into the crowd. I think the police made a mistake by breaking them up into smaller groups.

Its raining. The local media seems to think the rain will help disperse the protesters.

I only caught part of the story, but KDKA said something about a protester throwing his arms around one of the riot police who quickly threw him to the ground - which sounds like maybe he would be arrested? -- and they said something about maybe police fired rubber bullets...

The WORST attendance EVER at PNC Park today.....15,000 pre-sold tickets sold, only 2,000 people showed up.
