We were joking around. There's a difference.
True true! And Hopes, out of curiousity, you said you know the distance from Fox Chapel to Natrona Heights and from Fox Chapel to Pittsburgh and that's where you get your times! Fair enough, but are you eliminating the transit time from Fox Chapel to Rt. 28? Because obviously someone heading from Natrona Heights to Pittsburgh would not have a pit-stop in Fox Chapel!

Thanks everyone for responding. Right now my husband commutes 1 hour by train and has done for years .I would love him to have a shorter commute say 30 mins or less from Freeport. I want an old house with about an acre with no close neighbors but near a town with a main street is that possible ? What do you recommend. Thanks in advance.

The Freeport area is very rural.

You could buy a house meeting your criteria and still be very close to Freeport.

Your husband could have a 10 minute commute.

If you want the best high schools in that area, you'll have to find a home outside of Freeport.

Freeport is fine enough, but there are some OUTSTANDING schools up that way.

Look for a home in West Shamokin or Elderton school districts.

Both have VERY HIGH state rankings as follows:

West Shamokin (Armstrong County) 71st out of 693 high schools in the state

Elderton (Armstrong County) 90th out of 693 high schools in the state

Here's a thread I created showing the state rankings in the greater Pittsburgh area so people could truly see which schools around here are the best:

http://www.city-data.com/forum/pitts...-rankings.html

You will be glad to know that Armstrong county schools rank 3rd out of the 67 counties in Pennsylvania.

To validate that statement, here's a link to the county rankings: http://www.psk12.com/rating/USthreeR...untyID_-1.html

Armstrong County Schools are NOT Ranked 3rd. They are actually ranked 17th based on The Pittsburgh Trubine Reviews. But yes they are ver very nice up that way. Go for Freeport,Leechburg, Apollo, or Vandergrift

So I am guessing, by the looks of these posts, that my post in another thread that it "probably takes 30-35 minutes" to go from Oakmont to Downtown IN RUSH HOUR is going to draw some criticism?

seriously...you got the Hulton Bridge!
