Freeport? Hm. Try Apollo, Sarver, or Natrona Heights. All a breeze of a drive to Freeport!

Natrona Heights would be 20 to 25 minutes, Apollo might be about 40 or so (but is more of an awkward drive to Pittsburgh), Sarver would be about 30. Essentially you want to stay fairly close to Rt. 28. That will be your heartbeat into Pittsburgh and more than likely to Freeport unless you live IN Freeport (meh, wouldn't do). Also look into Lower Burrell, it's a 25 minute drive to Pittsburgh, about a 15 - 20 minute drive to Freeport, and is in Westmoreland County which will save you a lot on taxes - it's also my birthplace Apollo is in Armstrong County, also much better taxes. Sarver is in Butler County, also good. Natrona Heights is in Allegheny County. If you can help it, try to live in ANY county other than Allegheny County, but Natrona Heights is a nice nieghborhood city and you may really like it. Parts of Sarver are really growing and these houses are mostly large and new. You could head a bit more north to Saxonburg and still be fairly close to Freeport but this will start pushing an hour away from Pittsburgh or so (use Rt. 8)
Freeport is unique because it is right next to Armstrong, Butler, Allegheny, and Westmoreland County, so you have a lot of options other than the heavy Allegheny County taxes.

I disagree.
Freeport and Sarver are 40 minutes. Natrona Heights is 30 minutes. Apollo would be longer.
Freeport School District has a good school system. The high school does an excellent job of providing a healthy education environment. No lockers have locks. Any offense that happens at the school results in police charges. They don't play games there---and it's not because it's a bad school. It's because they won't let it become a bad school. Kids tow the line at Freeport because of creative and progressive administrative policies.
Since you'll be working in a less populated area, you can live almost anywhere and have a short commute time because there will be no traffic. But if you chose a home in the immediate vacinity, your family life will only benefit from not having to commute.

Hopes with all due respect, ya know I luv ya, but I went to high school in Natrona Heights, was born and raised in Lower Burrell, and my Aunt teaches in Freeport and have made these drives AT LEAST a quarter million times in my life and still do to this day
Natrona Heights is 25 minutes TOPS and Freeport is only about 10 more minutes further down 28, not even. So although our times aren't too far off, I would say yours are a bit on the long side. I don't even really speed on 28. I might give ya Sarver at 40 minutes but would say more like 37!
Although now that I think about Apollo might be more like an hour, too.

I worked in Natrona Heights while living in Fox Chapel. I know the commute time from Fox Chapel to Natrona Heights. And I know the commute time from Fox Chapel to downtown. Add two and two together, boylocke.
Seriously, you're talking about FLYING (SPEEDING) down the highway AT 3AM in the morning when there is no traffice. Heck, it's a tough sell to say that you can be IN downtown Pittsburgh from Fox Chapel in 15 minutes when there is even regular daytime traffic, not rush hour traffic. Fox Chapel and Natrona Heights are way farther away than a 10 minute drive.

Well, that about equals 40 minutes from Freeport to downtown so I'm not sure why you're arguing with me about 5 minutes.

Well you're both wrong. It takes 37 minutes and 9 seconds.

Proof that I am not the only argumentative one on this forum! We all are; that's why we enjoy it. We should all keep that in mind.
