Default How does one go about scalping Steelers tickets?

I'll be heading down to the game this Sunday with some friends, none of whom have tickets to the game. I've seen the signs under the Fort Duquesne Bridge that say "Ticket Scalping Area," but I was hoping to get some advice from someone who has bought Steelers tickets from a scalper before. Where is the best place to look for scalpers? How early before the game should I head down to the stadium? Are there any signs of a scam I should beware of? For an average mid-season game, what percentage of the face value should I expect to pay?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Tickets at StubHub! Where Fans Buy and Sell Tickets

This would be the most safest and most legal of ways to get sold out tickets I used them a few times for igloo seats and Lexus club seats and was very very happy.

I would say go with an official source for buying tickets. As for what time to get to the stadium, we got there 2 hrs early but we spent most of that time driving around untill we could park (we didnt have one of those parking passes for a close lot). We ended up parking in a garage by PNC Park. I would sugest getting there an hour or so early and parking at a garage across the Allegheny River and walking to Heinz Field via the Sixth, Seventh, or Ninteenth Street Bridge. It may be more walking but there will be less traffic after the game.

Ticket scalping is legal in Pittsburgh as long as the seller has a permit to do so and it is done in the posted area. Just be careful, not everyone plays by the rules.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I've purchased tickets for Steelers/Pirates/Penguins games online before, but Steelers tickets are so expensive online! Most of the time they are selling for 3-4 times the face value! Which is why I will now attempt to get them from a scalper on the same day.

I've heard claims that if you wait until shortly after the game has started, you can get stellar deals as the scalpers are desperate to get rid of the tickets they have left. This is the kind of advice I'm searching for, direct advice on how to buy from scalpers. Is there no one who has any first-hand experience buying Steelers tickets from scalpers?

Why? Scalping is not completely illegal in Pittsburgh.

not if he/she buys fake tickets and presents them to the venue.

Ticket scalping is 100% legal in Pittsburgh, and there are even set guidelines on how and where you can do it. The following is from PNC Park's website:

Ticket Reselling/Scalping:
The Ticket Reselling Area is located between PNC Park and Heinz Field, at the
corner of Dorsett Way and North Shore Drive (near the new Del Monte office
building). Pirates ticket holders can sell any extra tickets they may have in
this area. No other ticket reselling or "scalping" will be permitted near PNC
Park and Heinz Field. Fans can only resell tickets in the specified Ticket
Reselling Area.

Licensed ticket scalpers wanting to buy/sell tickets can do so outside the
perimeter established by the new regulation. The boundaries of the perimeter
are Ridge Avenue (north), Fontella Street and North Shore Drive (west), Point
State Park and the southern sidewalk of Fort Duquesne Boulevard (south) and
Anderson Street (east).

Still just looking for advice from anyone who's done it. Namely, what percentage of face value should you expect to pay for a regular season game? 300%? 100%? 50%? Anyone?

.
