building that hangs off Mt. Washington
Does anyone know anything about this building hangs off the edge of Mt. Washington between the Fort Bridge and the Duequesne Incline? It looks like it could be apartments or a hotel of some sorts.
At first I thought it was that Edge place people were talking about in another thread, but I checked out the place on google maps streetview, but the place didn't look abandoned. In fact it had a well maintained pool in the front, and a few cars in the parking lot.
This is something that has been bugging me since I was kid and have been trying to search the internet but to no avail. My search came up with Grandview Pointe apartments, but it turns out those apartments are in the same building as Monterey Bay.
So if someone can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated?

Man if I had the money I'd buy one of those condos, having that view all the time would be epic
Edit: Thanks BrianTH for clearing that up +1

From the Grandview Ave side, you'd think it was only a four story building.
It's not apparent from either the street, or the pictures, but it has about four levels of parking garage inside there.

I always wondered how the elevators worked in a place like that... what with all the lower levels built on apparent "terraces". Also with an elevator, would floor one be the street side, or the bottom terrace?

I would never live in that building. Even as a child, I thought the building looked dilapidated. Even if it's top quality inside, I could never handle the feeling of being trapped. The rooms are so small. Even the larger livingroom is only 12 feet wide. Maybe I'm clausterphobic and don't know it. It just seems that having the earth behind the building and a cliff below the terrace means there's no way out. I know it's illogical. A highrise poses the same risks. I also think that it's probably damp. It's basically living in a basement with an open side.

I am going to have respectively disagree. From what I see on the website the rooms look nice. The view alone would have me sold instantly. Plus I have always been fascinated with this building because it hangs off the side of a mountain.

It's not damp, at least in the parking garage, and that's the part that's against the ground on one side.

I wouldn't live anywhere on Grandview. I'm deathly afraid of heights.

That's fine. The mere thought of the building just freaks me out.

That's good news! I'm so glad to hear that there is a parking garage anchoring it into the hillside!

I'm terrified of heights too! While I don't avoid high places, I certainly wouldn't chose to live off the edge of a cluff!
