Best Mexican Food
Who has the best authentic Mexican food within the area? I know this isn't exactly our specialty, but any hidden gems to suggest?

Mexico City is great. Downtown on Smithfield. Used to like El Campesino but don't think it's that good anymore.

I moved here from Colorado where good Mexican food was everywhere, and have found it difficult to find truly good Mexican food in the burgh. There is one that shines above all else though, in my opinion, and that is Mexico City. They have two locations downtown, one on Wood and one of Smithfield.

There's a mexican restaurant in the North Hills across from the Olive Garden.
I'm not familiar with authentic Mexican food, only the American version.
It might be authentic---looks like it's owned and run by real Mexicans---and the food served to me was not what I was used to.
It's called Emilianos and has a five star review on google maps.
Here's the restaurant website: http://www.emilianos.net/events.php

mmmmmmm.......looks like I'm heading to Mexico City sometime soon, haha. Yeah I should have been more specific, but I'm looking for the real thing and not so much Tex-Mex or anything Americanized.

There's an Emilianos on Carson near the South Side Works as well. Mendoza Express, at the corner of Noblestown and Mansfield in Greentree/Crafton is pretty decent, too.

I'm not sure if Emilianos is the real thing or not. I've never had the real thing.
What they served me was NOT the standard Americanized I'm used to.
I assumed it was true Mexican food. The staff is all Mexican. I've never seen that in Pittsburgh.
The reviews say the food is authentic.
If anyone makes it there, let me know if it's real Mexican.

honestly i think most mexican food in the us is tex mex or americanized to me. maybe the closer you get to the border like in the southern states you might find the real thing. always remember this....ground beef tacos is not the real thing.
