We got into that in the PA forum yesterday. Someone wanted to move to Brookville PA - with no prospects for a job and some education in the medical field.

One person went so far as to explain that most people in Jefferson County is forced to work for Min wage, due to the fact that if you are not willing to work for Min wage, there is 10 other people behind you in line that is.

I refuse to work holiday work, due to the fact that the day after Christmas - you do not have a job and you are in no better shape financially then you was before the holidays.

Especially if you have family and they expect a present out of you.

People thinks that you have a job and all of a sudden you can afford stuff.

retail holiday jobs...some do work the day after christmas an some retail til New Yrs for returns. I think it is very clear to anyone that this is temp, extra money position....some people figure...I can use this extra money regarless of the pay scale to pay off bills after the holidays or to buy extra gifts, food etc............

I know from having a career in retail that if there are job openings after the holidays the job or another better paying job can be considered if the person is outstanding. My friend had this experience working a holiday job and was offered a management position after the holidays because she made it known to her managers she had interests and proved to be a good if not excellent worker...Many people leave there jobs after the holidays and after they get ther bonus

Many people take holiday work to simply earn extra money. That goes for stay at home moms and even working parents with full time jobs.

People do what people need to do to earn money to make ends meet.

actually a good idea Hopes...I know i like this more then some presents I get...I know in Europe this is common for many to do who make jams pies or crafts...it's more personal and many like homemade then commercial goods for presents.
