Agreed. Thankfully not everyone follows this ridiculous law.

Well then... would anyone be willing to send me a PM with places that offer this without incriminating their favorite brewery on a public forum?

Can't access your profile to send you PM's. I can name 2 off the top of my head that will fill any growler and a bar that will fill any growled you bring in.

I have never had anyone say that. Maybe the place doing that just wants more money for the growler and advertising. I would just tell them, you lost a customer or if you just have to have that beer, you could put a piece of tape on the growler and write the name on it. Sure isn't a very green way of thinking.

Whoops, didn't realize I had to enable a profile on this forum to get PM's. Should be good now.

I am confused... Are you saying you've never heard of a place willing to fill an outside growler, or that you've never heard of a place refusing to do so?

As far as I can tell it's a legal issue, otherwise what would be the harm in posting it? I never even saw it advertised around here until East End, and they used to have a big caveat, though they've changed their site since then and I can't find it anymore, I assume nothing has changed. Basically it used to say we'd love to fill any growler you bring in, but we can't. Though I seem to also remember something about it possibly being legit if they had a different distinction (like bar or brew pub or something).

I have a couple already that I often take with me when I travel to more "free" states. I don't need anymore big glass jugs, and disposing of them kind of defeats the purpose...

^^ Dispose of them? Blasphemy! Save them for me so I can add 'em to my collection.

I never been turned down with any growler in any bar that brews. I don't care for East End's beer, so I have never tried it there. All their beer is too hoppy for my taste.

Just tape over the damn name and put their's on it. That would really **** me off.

There ARE plenty of places that will fill any growler! I think they are just trying to sell you a new one. I don't believe that law exists.

This is why we can't fill non-East End Growlers here... - East End Brewing Company
