Default Riding the bus in Wilkinsburg ?

Riding the 67A on a Saturday morning at 8AM from Monroeville through downtown Wilkinsburg and on Penn Ave to Dallas. Off at U Pitt. Bad idea ?

Nah. You'll be fine.

Actually, you'd probably be fine on that bus at any time of day or night, as long as you stayed on the bus. And Wilkinsburg in the daytime really isn't that awful - I've been down there a number of times doing stuff during the day and never had a problem.

I wouldn't hesitate to go to Wilkinsburg---day or night. I'd just be a little more cautious in the middle of the night.

Daytime is safe enough almost anywhere in Pittsburgh---especially on public transportation.

My wife and I take buses from Wilkinsburg (where we live) all the time. Trust me, there is nothing scary about a bunch of sleepy people going back and forth from work/school.

And I also agree Penn Avenue in downtown Wilkinsburg isn't really scary anyway. But on the bus it doesn't really matter.

I don't think I've ever been in a bad place anywhere in the world on a Saturday morning at 8am.

bad guys sleep late!

i catch the bus in wilkinsburg every morning at 8am and i've never had a problem. i also walk my dog around here at all hours without a problem, although i'm not so naive as to think i'll never have one. i rode the bus through wilkinsburg late at night and early in the morning every day for several years, no problems there either. i know one person who had a guy pull a knife on her on the bus (in east pittsburgh i think), but buses are pretty inherently safe the vast majority of the time. most people aren't going to do anything when there's one or more witness, and there always is on the bus! plus it's kind of difficult to, say, mug someone and escape.

Yep, buses are actually one of the safest public places you can be in a city. And if you are looking at transportation modes, they are also a lot safer than being in a car.
