Indoor waterpark resort planned for Pittsburgh Mills

Could be a very welcome addition to a struggling development.

We have one just down the road from us in TX. It should do very well in Pittsburg and it's a very cool design, the rooms have GREAT set ups for kids.
BUT it's mainly geared toward the under 12 set.

AND...Having been to Splash Lagoon in Erie, it was WAY small! (same premise though get a hotel room and get 2 day pass) Great Wolf does not offer 1 day admission which I think Spalsh lagoon does.

I think this is wonderful! It will be nice to have an indoor water park closer than Erie!

If it happens, it's going to be a big plus to Pittsburgh Mills, perhaps give it that needed boost. It would also provide an indoor water park closer to home.

Bummer. Saw it on the news. Only people staying at the hotel can use the water park.

Does anyone know if the waterpark will be attached to the mall, or be a freestanding structure near the mall? Some of the articles said that it would be near the mall, but the Post-Gazette article mentioned that it would actually be connected to the mall itself. I can only hope that it would be attached to the mall if the mall wants to rebound, I can't imagine people going to the mall if the waterpark is a freestanding structure. Hopes, there's already a Marriott hotel near the mall, and typically that's how waterparks that have a hotel attached to them work.

I saw the story on the evening news. It's a new hotel, not just a water park added to an existing hotel, and it's being built separate from the mall in an area of land that's on the other side of the road that circles the parking lot. I can't see how it's going to improve much for the mall since most of the people will be arriving to stay at the water park. There are no plans for the structure to connect to the mall.

It's a resort, not just a water park. Read this from one of the resort webpages:

With one of our fully-themed resort suites as your family's base camp, you can set out on your Great Wolf adventure. You'll likely first discover our gigantic indoor waterpark, where it's always 84 degrees. And that's just the beginning. Besides our waterparks, don't miss our themed restaurants, interactive arcades, full service spas (and even a version for kids!), fitness centers, and so much more. And with more than 10 locations coast to coast, Great Wolf Lodge is the perfect, weatherproof, year-round destination for your busy family.

Doesn't sound like there's any reason to leave the building.

I thought the one in Erie allowed area residents to buy day passes.

IF it really is that way, this will be bound to fail IMO.
