I'm unemployed now and a couple asked me to take care of their 6-month baby, I wonder anyone knows how much I should charge? thanks.

If you have limited experience, $8 to $10 per hour.

If you have experience, $13 to $15 per hour.

If you have experience and appropriate education (bachelors or masters in childhood development, education, etc.), $20 per hour.

These are just rough estimates. How much depends on many things----if they're paying taxes, if there is a shortage of nannies, etc.

I agree with Hopes... IF you want you can call a nanny service / agency and they may help with with a pay scale like HOpes gave....pretty sure it will be the same.

I would bet that they get paid more than that. I know teenage babysitters charge $10 an hour. Try looking on Craigslist and see what people are offering. You also have to figure out if you are going to be working under the table or not. A lot of nannys prefer it this way but the parents don't get the tax credit.

Teenage babysitters are different because they are only working a short number of hours. The more hours worked, the lower the hourly rate.

I'm confident in the pricing I offered. I know many people who have nannies.

The highest paid nanny I know in Pittsburgh makes 40k with benefits. The family relocated her and her family here when they transferred to Pittsburgh from Seattle.

There's one family, that's among the weathiest in Pittsburgh, that won't pay more than $8/hour for a nanny.

It's a strange world. Most pay their housekeepers better than their nannies.
